Sir Elton John is famously a huge fan of the festival season.
And Elton John stepped in this year for the first Christmas by delivering a very special gift to fans in New York City.
Just days after his last ever (official) show in the US at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, which was live all over the world, Elton has clearly changed his mind.
Deciding that it was only fair to spend one last time in the Big Apple with his beloved, the legendary songwriter decided to wave goodbye one last time.
And his impromptu performance was clearly unexpected as it left Christmas shoppers flabbergasted.
Fifth Avenue hives activity during the festive season, and celebrated retailer Saks is celebrated for its iconic, glittering window displays.
But this year to mark their annual unveiling, they added a bit of sparkle by asking Elton to perform one of their most famous hits.
Every year, the vendors on the busy streets attract millions of tourists from around the world who come to see the iconic jewelry.
But in typical Elton fashion, he put himself first in his jaw-dropping performance.
To get his grand piano to the store, traffic on Manhattan’s 49th Street would come to a complete halt as it rolled down Fifth Avenue.
You don’t like Elton – one of music’s biggest divas ever – to ever cause a stir, do you?
With two children, David Furnish and her husband, her short career was brilliant, at least to the fans’ surprise.
“It means a lot to me to have your help,” Elton told his audience as he left impromptu.
He also revealed that Saks’ donated 1 million dollars to his AIDS charity Fund.
“Thank you so much, it’s so exciting to kick off the holiday season tonight and be part of this spectacular and iconic window display and light show.”
After teasing the piano notes to deliver the track “Your Song”, Elton followed with a full solo performance.
It was not only a moment of spectacle, but – a famous display paying tribute to the legendary artist, rocket ships towering over the side of the building.
When ‘Your Song’ came to an end, vendors put up Christmas lights in front of the parade and wowed the audience with a stunning show.
Elton will close his long-delayed Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour in 2023, after recently returning to Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, where his 1975 performance was considered his career highlight.
Someone always gets into the Christmas spirit, maybe not quite ready to say goodbye to America just yet.
